London in winter with kids

More memorable moments, fewer cold queues: build the day around your family.

Choose one main attraction

For a family day, one well-chosen booking can be enough. Winter Wonderland gives you a mix of rides and attractions; Hogwarts in the Snow is a longer film-focused outing; an ice show is a seated alternative to skating yourselves.

Plan for the youngest traveller

Check the organiser’s height, age and accompanying-adult rules before paying. “Family-friendly” does not mean that every activity suits every child. Ask the venue about accessibility, sensory needs and assistance rather than guessing from photographs.

Warm breaks are part of the plan

Leave space for an indoor meal and bring clothing suitable for waiting outside. Even covered venues can involve outdoor travel and queues. Use a small number of nearby stops rather than criss-crossing the city.

Indoor fair or indoor activity?

Winter Funland’s new London dates are not yet verified in this guide. Until they are, consider confirmed options such as Cinderella on Ice or the studio tour. Be clear with children whether they are watching skaters or going skating.

Make the journey home easy

A tired child and a long connection can change the whole day. Look up the return route before you leave, and use Transport for London’s live information for disruptions and holiday changes.
