The West End’s seasonal street displays and decorated shop windows can be enjoyed on a self-guided walk. Check the switch-on announcements for your dates, especially early in the season. A sensible route is more useful than trying to see every famous street in one evening.
Let Covent Garden be a pause
Use the piazza as a flexible stop for decorations and atmosphere. Shopping, food, performances with tickets and special experiences are separate spending decisions. A free place to walk does not make everything inside it free.
Keep market visits flexible
Check the specific market’s admission policy before you go. A public-space market differs from a fair with entry tickets or a palace event included in paid admission. Leave room in your budget for food and travel even if browsing costs nothing.
